Review:

"When I learned that this book focused on environmental issues, I was excited to read it. The author talks about the necessity of caring for nature and how to do so using fiction and in a fun way. The main protagonists are the plants and the antagonists are their adversaries: the weeds. The adventure that the plants go on would be exciting for young readers around a first or second grade reading level. My children are obviously too young to read this book right now, but I'm sure they'll enjoy to do so someday.

Review:

"I have been trying to use my Kindle as an actual Kindle lately and have been trying to find some new books for the boys. I was introduced to the eBook Mr. Hookumbacker and the Yella Yella Yum Yum Tree by Richard Silverton. This is a fun adventurous children’s book with a magical and whimsical story line.

This is a book that is really going to get your kids thinking and having fun while they are enjoying the journey of Holly Shallina. This story is full of fun and silly names that are sure to get your kids attention. As Holly travels around The Forest of Cracking Stone to the Village of Wiggle Twig, she meets fun new friends. I mean what kid wouldn’t get into a story about characters like Buddy Trix and Cherry Petals? The author really tries to make you feel like you are there with all the characters. The details are amazing and sure to keep the attention of even the most fidgety child!

One of my favorite things about this book is how it helps to send a message to kids and families about the importance of preserving our environment and helping to take care of our helpless creatures. It also helps to teach the importance of teamwork and friendship."

My children's book Mr. Hookumbacker and the Yella Yella Yum Yum Tree has been reviewed by Connie on her Peanut Butter and Whine blog. My thanks to her and Alice!

"One of my favorite times of day is reading books to Alice. We read everything from simple one line per page  books to full stories with several chapters. I love that Alice doesn't need pictures to hear a story.  When I was offered "Mr. Hookumbacker and the Yella Yella Yum Yum Tree" to read and review I didn't hesitate to say OF COURSE!!! With a title like that how could I resist??!?!?  (Alice doesn't know that I manage to say the name differently every time!!! Mr. Hookumbacker and the Yella Yella Yum Yum Tree is a cute book, with an important message we have to care for our forests.

Mr. Hookumbacker is 215 pages of magical adventure that takes place in the Forest of the Cracking Stone. The forest is filled with bubble tums (they care for the forest), honey tickles, sapling shines. (Aren't these names great??) Cherry Petals lives in the Wiggle Twig Village but must travel far away to find a Yella Yella Yum Yum Tree to save her friend. This is a fun book to read out loud. The names are fun, the story is fun and the message is important. There is so much adventure in this book kids of all ages will thoroughly enjoy it"

 REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

Review and giveaway of Mr. Hookumbacker and the Yella Yella Yum Yum Tree at The Nap Time Reviewer - thank you Cristen!

"I recently discovered the eBook Mr. Hookumbacker and the Yella Yella Yum Yum Tree by Richard Silverton.  This children's book is an adventure story with a magical and whimsical plot.  It has the silliest names such as The Forest of the Cracking Stone or the village of Wiggle Twig.

This book is sure to get your kids' imaginations flowing and will teach them about friendship.  The author, Richard Silverton, describes even the smallest of details in this magical land so you truly feel like you are right there with the characters.  He describes the Bumble Tums, which are similar to bumble bees, as "tree keepers" that work to keep the forest healthy.  In return for the Bumble tums good work, the trees allow them to feed off of their honey sap, the Bumble Tums favorite food."

'This is a very cute and endearing children’s story about friendship. I love how Holly’s friends do all they need to when she is trapped outside the forest boundary. More than just the fantasy and adventure that takes place is the lesson that children will learn in that we need to take care of their natural environments. My daughter loved this and has read it more than a dozen times already.'
